Luis Mauricio Pragana dos Santos was born in Rio de Janeiro RJ on May 4, 1953. He formed his first set band to 12 years, with a repertoire of The Beatles. He began professional career at age 19 as a member of the Electric Velvet group, coming a year after the Vimana, which included Lobao on drums, Fernando Gama Ritchie on bass and vocals and recorded on a compact Som Livre in 1977 (Zebra and Masquerade) besides participating in the LP Ave night Fagner.
